For a very inexpensive scoop it works very well. I have outside cats that have access to stay or sleep inside my workshop. I bought a long handle cast iron metal scoop for their litter box. I needed something strong enough to scoop out the clumps of pee which stick firm to sides and bottoms of the litter pan. I use these short handle scoops for the cats I have inside. However I have to also use a wide metal putty knifes if I have to scoop out the pee clunks that get stuck to the litter box. Usually this plastic scoop can handle this but sometimes the pee clubs adhere so strong it is easier to first scrap the pee clubs loose then scoop out everything with the plastic scoop to shake loose the littler. Get what I mean?

When I first got this and saw how small it was, I was disappointed. But then I used it and really liked it. I have four cats; all of them large breed cats. I do a lot of scooping. I had a long handled one before this that I had bought from a pet store. That one broke and I realized that the shorter handled one is so much easier to use. The plastic is very sturdy and the shorter handle puts less stress on my wrist. My one old male cat pees a lake every day. It is heavy to lift. This little scooper gets the whole big clump out effortlessly without stressing my wrist. Don't let the size put you off. It is very sturdy and gets the job done.

The only reason I am using a second one is that I added a litter box. No issues with breaking, even when scooping large clumps from the bottom of the litter box, which I keep fairly deep. Third, the holes make sifting so much easier!!! I can sift the smaller kitten litter boxes in under 1 minute. The adult boxes take under 5 for a full clean.
