I use it to empty the 55 gallon tank when doing a water change and fill it back up from the sink. I have a 35" hose to pump out to the front yard/fill from the sink. I like the suction power. It is just right. I only use the small tool that keeps me closest to the bottom. When it gets to 2" it will siphon whether on or off but it is very tricky to keep this going but if successful will get it down to 1". The trick is to keep it in one place once it starts siphoning and not move it or breathe!

I have mobility challenges, so this is a very functional tool and ease of maintenance for my fish health, however, I would love one designed for the tanks smaller then 20G, but not give up the power and performance of this current product. I did not see direction of the flexible hose usage but its a thought for the smaller tank adaptability if this is possible, I would purchase again. thanks for making this task easier for me AND MY AQUATIC PETS.

If you want a cleaner way to clean your big fish tank, I highly recommend this vacuum. You can recycle the water or take out the water as you clean the tank. It works great for my 65 gallon tank. I'm so thankful I found this. Granted I've only used it once. Will report back if anything goes wrong with other uses. It takes a few minutes to put the vacuum together, but well worth the buy, in my honest opinion. No more lugging around gallons of water and getting the carpet wet, while cleaning the tank. Patience is a virtue and always lay down some towels for some drips, as you take the vacuum in and out of the tank to clean.

I had a manual pump before that used suction pressure to suck out all the water. But It always ended up messy with water on the floor. Not to mention when water level gets low enough, you always accidentally break the suction and stop the flow. The nuisance has certainly yielded me from cleaning tank more often. Most of the time I just took out half tank then top off with fresh water. This water pump certainly takes much of those hassle out of water changes. It eliminates spilled and dripping water on my carpet and floors. The best thing is I don't need to shovel gravels out to clean the bottom of the tank. The built in feature of the vacuum can pick up all the wastes hiding in the gravels without going through removing and refill. Should have got this earlier. The fish enjoy clean water and this allows me to complete water changes so quickly when I see numbers I don't like. It does the job I need it to,very effective.
