20 gallon octagon tank needed new heater. Purchased this one because it has the readout so I can see not only that it is on but what the setting is. The button that is outside the tank on the power cord is convenient to set (you don't need to reach into the tank like the previous heater). I did see some comments on the fact that you cannot lower the temperature. The directions are not clear but all you need to do is click past the max setting (35) and it starts again from the lowest setting

The heater light will go off indicating It's stopped heating when it reached the set temperature. But the water temperature kept raising nonstop. Very dangerous. Use it for a couple hours each time and monitor it. This heater has given me so much stress and worry about if I've unplugged the heater or not multiple times a day especially before sleeping at night. I would not recommend.

This product is very easy to use, very straightforward. As long as you know what temp it is preferred for your fish. Make sure you do a lot of research on the fish your getting, before setting a temp, it will save you a lot of time and frustration. And I absolutely love the digital thermometer that comes with it, it is so much easier than the other thermometers. I recommend getting this for your fish.

I have a 2 1/2 gallon tank with a beta in it. I got the fish in the winter and it wasn't moving or eating much. We keep the house at 67 which I now know isn't warm enough for a beta. After getting the heater, his activity has greatly increased and he looks forward to his meals. Very easy to find install and set temperature.

Had to do a return or more like a swap for a new one on The first order, the bottom was chipped. I thought it was gonna be a hassle but it was pretty easy and quick. The heater is installed so far it's keeping the tank warm. I've had to meddle with the temperature dile just so the water isn't to warm or to cold but i think so far is doing pretty good better then the old heater pad i had in there for my turtle. If anithing I'll update.

I have had this thing for probably more than a year and it's still working. The temperature will vary depending on size of tank. Mines in a 5 and does a good job keeping it at around 80 for the betta. I believe the people cooking their fish is operator error or have smaller tanks which would cause the temperature fluctuations to be higher. I would recommend a different one for anything below 5 gallon, like those little black plastic pad looking ones.

This aquarium heater has been very reliable. I've had it in my aquarium for 4 months now and the heating sensor is still great. It turns on/off at the right times and within a few degrees of set degree. The only issue I have with this heater is the “set degree” numbers after 4 months is completely gone. Luckily I found the right degree before that happened because now if I was to change degrees I would be guessing. Maybe on their next model the set degrees could be raised or engraved.

Takes a bit of findangling to get the temp to hold in the range you want. Ideally the unit should lay on its side at THE BOTTOM of the tank but I have mine upright so I can easily adjust the dial. I would TURN IT DOWN before you put it in the tank because mine was set very high from the factory. Best to start using this at night when the ambient room air is cooler.Comes with a suction cup mounted digital thermometer and dongle. I keep a regular tank thermometer just to see if they read close to the same temp.

It works very well! I just use it for a 2 gallon tank for one betta fish and he seems much happier with the heater. The only thing is you have to play with the temperature because when it is set on 81 on the heater the thermometer reads the water as 85, however when I set the temperature to 77 it reads as 82 which is what I was aiming for. But that is only a minor inconvenience that was easily fixed. It also came with a thermometer you can stick on the side of the tank which is very helpful so I can just take a quick look when I'm walking by to make sure the water is warm enough.

I had lost some fish due to the freeze and power outage and decided to get this heater. So far it works really well. Coming out of the box it has some good weight and feels very durable and sturdy. It comes with an thermometer so you can always make sure your tank is at the right temperature. The heater itself has a small light that tells you it's on or working which is good because it may take some before you feel the water temp change. The heater has an easy dial on top with the different temperature setting and since it sits above the water it's easy to access and change if you need to.
